Philosophy
At Mrs. Summitts Early Child Development, we believe that in the right environment a child’s natural curiosity and creativity leads to endless opportunities in knowledge. We believe that children will develop a love of learning through early literacy skills and cultural awareness. Here at, Mrs Summitts Early Child Development we provide that environment, by making it a safe and nurturing place where your child will be encouraged to build, splash, dash, pretend and create their way to exciting discoveries about the world around them. Here at Mrs. Summitt’s Early Child Development we have adopted the Freedom School approach. An approach that encourages early literacy skills, through call in response, music and dramatic play. Encouraging our children to become young change agents in the world! We allow children to join the Family as an infant and to stay with us throughout their beginning years, 5 (school age) years.

Our center experience is designed to promote each child’s own individual social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. As educators, our mission is to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment, which fosters a child’s natural instinct to explore, discover, create and become a lifelong learner and change agent.

Hello my name Mrs. Ashley Summitt. I am a wife, a mother of 3 beautiful children and an educator. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with an education focus. I have worked as a skilled educator for over 10 plus years. I have serviced K-12th grade students and younger all over Los Angeles County. In addition, I have lobbied in our state capitol for additional funding for our educational system. I have worked with local city officials in efforts to provide a quality Summer Literacy Program for Compton youth. I am a Licensed Childcare Provider and have taken several child care units and trainings specifically in early childhood and adolescence. I have also traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to receive intensive training from the Children’s Defense Fund Organization. During this time, I was able to hear Marian Wright Edelman speak on how our inner city children need help at such a young age and specifically in the classroom. It was her words that sparked a heart for change, 8 years ago. Mrs. Summitts Early Child Development was founded in 2020 with one purpose - to build a space for all children to grow, learn and create with each passing day. Through a unique teaching approach and a truly passionate staff, we help children develop early literacy skills and encourage young thinkers!
